1976 GMC 23 Foot GMC Motorhome

1976 GMC 23 Foot "Birchhaven" Motorhome "The "10,000 Pound Hot Rod"! That's what many folks have called the 23 Foot GMC Motorhome from the 1970's! This particular 1976 GMC Birchhaven Package motorhome is very complete and in overall decent condition. The exterior of the coach is in good overall condition with no damage or evidence of repair. The roof top A/C is complete along with the optional storage box. The front windshield is cracked on the passenger side and has foggy edges on the driver's side. All the hood, doors and compartments open properly and are complete. The 6K Watt Onan generator is complete along with all the needed electrical hookup for the campground. The underside of the coach is in good condition with a nice frame with no rust other than some surface rust in a couple of places. The rear black water tank is cracked and will need replaced. This 23 Foot Birchaven is the rare "Side Bath" floor pan which means the rear are of the coach is the bedroom with is very nice with windows on 3 sides. The side batch is complete with toilet, shower and vanity. The kitchen is complete with sink, cook top and refrigerator. This coach also has sleeping arrangements in the front for a total of 4 person sleeping capacity. The front dash board is very nice with an excellent dash pad, all original gauges, tilt steering column, factory AM-FM 8 Track radio, front captains chairs and more! Mechanically this coach starts, runs and drives. I would not consider this a drive it home coach without some fuel system rubber hose replacement work. The engine starts and runs good with exhaust leaks that will need to be addressed. The rear air suspension system pumps up properly and has new air bags installed on the rear. The brakes are complete and stop average at best. The tires on the coach are older tires and include a spare tire. Given the age of the tires replacement should be considered for safe operation. Of the almost 12,000 total 1973-1978 GMC Motorhomes build only about 1500 were the very desirable 23 Foot coaches. It is very hard to find a complete and decent 23 foot GMC coach at a reasonable price.
